AESCULYTE PROTOCOL FOR NASO-ORAL DECONTAMINATION DURING COVID 19 PANDEMIC

A. Basic Protocol for NasoOral Decontamination

 1.For Prevention (Prophylaxis)

When going out of the house with possibility of being exposed like in the office, workplace, market, supermarket, etc., gargle and do nasal spray before leaving the house, during mid day and upon return.

Nasal and Oral misting with Portable Chargeable Handy Facial Misting Device is another option.

When gatherings occur outside of your own “bubble”, all participants should do oral gargle and nasal spray or misting 4 times a day, 24 hours before and after the gathering.  Note that human contacts are the primary mode of transmission of Covid 19.

The frequency can further be increased depending on the number and length of human contact and interactions. Increasing the frequency of Nasal Spray and Oral Gargle or Misting over and above the protocol is safe.

2.  When INFECTED or EXPOSED

Do oral gargle and nasal spray or misting 6 time in 24 hours until 3 days after symptoms are gone or after a negative swab.

When suspecting infection due to exposure to a covid-19 positive person but still asymptomatic, do nasal spray and oral gargle or misting 6 times a day likewise for 14 days.

 B. How to Perform Oral Gargle and Nasal Spray or Misting

1.Oral Gargle

Start with 20 ml Aesculyte to 20 ml water. Dilution is done just before use. Gargle forcefully, swishing around your mouth. Then tilt head back and without swallowing the liquid, open the mouth to continue gargling with liquid bubbling on the upper throat. Fractionate the 40 ml mix if it is too much for one gargle. Total time of gargling is about 3 minutes.  If You can tolerate above, gradually increase to full strength (100%) Aesculyte.

For those infected and those directly exposed, aim for full strength Aesculyte immediately.  There is no serious concern or health issues if accidentally swallowed.

2. Nasal Spray

Dilute 3 ml Aesculyte with 3 ml water just before use. Use 6 ml full strength if already infected or directly exposed.

Spray on both sides of nostrils with moderate inhalation. Spray should reach behind the nose (nasopharynx) and drip down the tongue (oropharynx).  Finish the 6 ml mix or 6 ml full strength on both nostrils.

3. Misting

Misting with a handy, chargeable device can replace nasal and oral gargle. Load the cap of the device with 15 ml pure Aesculyte and mist the nose and mouth timed with inhalation until load is consumed. Volume may be increased as determined by the degree of exposure or severity of symptoms.  A home humidifier can be loaded with half strength Aesculyte and converted as nebulizer for a big space or work area with several people with the duration and frequency determined by degree of human contacts.

Mild tolerable discomfort and runny nose following a nasal spray or misting is normal. A tart taste on oral gargling or misting is normal.  The discomfort gradually disappear as one gets accustomed to it. Misting was observed to be more tolerated.

Use only a small spray bottle as only 6 ml is needed.

C. Further Notes

Prepare the dilution for both oral and nasal spray only when about to use. Use a syringe for exact measurements. However any excess or estimate is perfectly safe.

Approximations:

5ml or 5cc = 1 tsp

15ml or 15cc = 1 tbsp

30ml or 30cc = 2 tbsp.

Shelf life of anolyte is 2 months after production date. A gallon is estimated to last for 2 months for 5 member family if appropriately used.

Keep the Nasal Spray and Handy Misting Device loaded with AESCULYTE at hand so that immediate application can be done at any suspicious contacts and exposures.

Rinse Misting Device after each use as it is corrosive to metals.

Protocol should be used with Standard Guidelines of Mask, Distancing and Hand Hygiene for Personal Protection against Covid 19.

Protocol is an adjunct and as yet not confirmed Therapeutic Guideline for Covid - 19.
